Some work of the last few days...

It's nice when you get good play on an image. Many of our assignments these days are enterprise feature, and they usually get good play in the paper, but not that many make it online. But every third or fifth image makes it here's one that I took last week that I pretty happy with the play.

Nick Rutherford, 18, of Flint catches some air at the Flint Skate Park. Warmer temperatures - including a high of 57 today and nearing 70 on Tuesday - also mean a return to outdoor activities, although Rutherford says the weather doesn’t keep him from his hobby. 'Skateboarding is my life. I do it every day, no matter (whether it is) cold or not,' he said.

Another random image, photographing unions is a challenge.

UAW Local 598 workers wait for a informational meeting on the new contract for the Flint Truck Assembly Plant to begin around 2pm Sunday at the Whiting Theatre.

Newton had an Apple, I get a puck...

Sooo... This last Sunday I shot my first hockey game for the journal, and I nearly took a puck to the face. Luckly however my pocket wizard saved the day and took the bullet for me. No it really didn't leap in front of me I just had my camera up and the puck happened to hit the pw I had triggering strobes in the ceiling, but however the pw flew off onto the ice and wound up with just a cracked case (it still fires strobes) and me with a small cut on my head.

So yeah but anyways I'm still learning a ton at the Journal, right now I'm focusing on lighting and was practicing last night, a week ago I couldn't have told you how this was done, but it's a extremely simple setup. Elliot and mom were kind enough to be my models.
