Canon has just announced their new mid level DSLR the EOS 7D. It is taking up the mantel of the what the EOS 20D was back in its day, a camera for the serious photog to compete with the Nikon hundred series(the 300s in this case). This is likely the camera I will look at first when I do my next camera body upgrade, likely in about 12 months.
Here are the vitals: The camera will have a 17.92 megapixel CMOS sensor, shoot at up to 8 frames per second, introduces a new 19 point AF system, shoot 1080 HD video and has ISO 100-6400 (and 12,800 in H mode). The camera is expected to retail for 1699.99 in the US starting in late September.
Rob Galbraith at DPI got a hands on test with the beta and has a great first look at the camera, check it out.
I also finished my first wedding shoot this past weekend, I'm still going through the images and I'll post some later this week.
